Zebroski sentenced to four years in prison

Newport striker Chris Zebroski was sentenced to four years in prison yesterday.

The former Torquay and Oxford forward, who featured for the Exiles as recently as Tuesday, admitted four charges of robbery, attempted robbery and assault and was handed 52 month sentence.

Newport have terminated his contract as a result, insisting they had no choice but to end their association with the 28-year-old.

“Newport County have noted the prison sentence handed down to striker Chris Zebroski today,” a statement read.

“The club have always had the welfare and wellbeing of Chris at heart and have worked hard with Chris and the PFA throughout.

“However, we would like to make it clear that we do not condone any of the actions for which Zebroski has been found guilty.

“Regrettably, the club are left with no other option than to terminate Chris’s contract.”
