Scottish Labour leadership candidate Neil Findlay yesterday demanded that the party’s next Holyrood manifesto should include a “bold commitment” to ending youth unemployment.
The left-wing MSP said he endorsed former prime minister Gordon Brown’s (pictured) call for a “reset” of Scottish politics with a new focus on jobs, following the Smith commission report on new powers for Holyrood published last week.
Mr Findlay — who is involved in a tight race for the post of Scottish Labour leader with Blairite MP Jim Murphy — said he was “delighted that Gordon Brown is echoing what I’ve been saying from the start of my campaign.”
He said: “Commitments like ending youth unemployment are bold, they will make a difference — and they will reconnect Labour with the people of Scotland.”
