Sugar quits ‘anti-business’ Labour Party

APPRENTICE star and peer Lord Sugar quit the Labour Party yesterday, blaming its “negative business policies” and “anti-enterprise approach.”

The Amstrad boss delivered a damning assessment of the party’s business credentials under Ed Miliband’s leadership as he revealed he had lost confidence in Labour.

Lord Sugar, who will move to the crossbenches after being appointed a Labour peer in 2009, said he made the decision at the start of the year but didn’t want to upset the apple cart by quitting during the election campaign.

A Labour spokesman said: “We would like to thank Alan for his years of generous support and for his service in the Lords, and we wish him well as a crossbench peer.”
