Bolton start their new era at home to Bournemouth after boss Dougie Freedman left by mutual consent yesterday.
Wanderers were thumped 4-0 at Fulham on Wednesday to leave them second-bottom of the Championship and Freedman left after talks with chairman Phil Gartside.
They have won just once in the league this season, a 3-2 victory over Rotherham last month ahead of today’s visit of the Cherries and Gartside insisted it was time for a change.
“Dougie has worked tirelessly off the field to improve the infrastructure of the football club. Unfortunately, recent results on the pitch have not reflected all his work off it,” Gartside said in a statement.
“The club has faced a difficult time following our relegation from the Premier League and Dougie has helped to restructure the club in order for it to become successful again under ever-tightening constraints.
“I would like to thank Dougie personally for all his commitment and efforts for Bolton Wanderers.”
