Trade unionists join push for Atlantic Rimec investigation

TRADE unionists rallied behind Scottish MPs’ plans yesterday to renew their blacklisting investigation over new allegations surrounding recruiters Atlanco Rimec.

The international employment agency found itself in hot water last week after a Danish TV station exposed a secret database of unionised workers, including those described as “excellent.”

GMB national officer Justin Bowden said that employers had taken a “systematic approach to schmoozing politicians, the ICO and others into believing that blacklisting was a thing of the past.

“The new revelations about Atlantco Rimec, which has an office in Northampton, blow that out of the water.”

The Blacklist Support Group’s Dave Smith added: “The construction multinationals, which fund the Tory Party, think they are above the law.

“Blacklisting is a major human rights scandal that has affected the lives of thousands of working men and women. No-one should be above the law,” he said.

Atlanco Rimec has defended the register as “above board.”
