Unison challenges employment tribunal fees in court

The Court of Appeal ruled that new evidence meant a new claim from public-sector union Unison should be heard.

Ministry of Justice statistics have shown a dramatic fall in clams being brought to Employment Tribunals and to the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

And figures published last month revealed that there had been an 81 per cent decline in tribunals in the second quarter of 2014 compared with 2013.

Unison general secretary Dave Prentis said: “The statistics from the past year paint a shocking picture of tens of thousands of workers being priced out of justice.”
