London: Privatised Tube cooks picket Sodexo headquarters for reinstatement of sacked colleague

London Underground cooks served their bosses a dog’s breakfast yesterday as they took their fight to reinstate a sacked union rep to a privateer’s headquarters.

Baker Street-based catering worker Petrit Mihaj was dismissed by private firm Sodexo, which was recently condemned after defence division managers were accused of routinely perpetrating racist bullying.

An employment tribunal ordered Mr Mihaj’s reinstatement, saying he had been unfairly sacked for trade union activities, but shameless bosses have so far refused to comply.

Sodexo soaks up swathes of taxpayers’ money in lucrative public service contracts.

Yesterday, Mr Mihaj and his comrades picketed Sodexo’s head office and handed hundreds of leaflets to passers-by.

“It is shameful that a company like Sodexo is allowed to win public contracts,” said rail union RMT general secretary Mick Cash.

“That is the message that we took to the front door of Sodexo’s London headquarters this morning along with the call for the reinstatement of our colleague Petrit Mihaj.”
