Tube workers balloted in RMT fightback

Transport union RMT launched a major fightback against stubborn bosses yesterday with Tube workers being balloted on industrial action in three separate disputes.

Track workers on the Jubilee line are voting on strike action in protest at an “all-out attack by the management on properly rostered and agreed time off away from work.”

Drivers on the Bakerloo line are voting on action short of a strike over alleged abuse of disciplinary procedures which have left a driver suspended since December last year.

Track renewal workers employed by Balfour Beatty at Ruislip are voting on strike action over pay and management’s refusal to negotiate.

RMT acting general secretary Mick Cash said the Jubilee line staff faced a “unilateral attack by the management on their rest days” which had ramifications for all staff across the network.

“RMT remains available for talks aimed at resolving these disputes,” said Mr Cash.
