Wolves 0-1 Leeds
by Simon Williams
at the Molineux
WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga insisted the season would start looking up after Saturday’s defeat to Leeds.
An own-goal by Silvio on 70 minutes condemned Zenga’s side to their fifth league game without a win leaving the Black Country side languishing in 18th place in the Championship.
But despite the defeat the former Italy keeper believes he can improve his side’s fortune.
“We had an important meeting in the locker room after the game — just me and the players,” said Zenga.
“And I am sure 100 per cent that things are going to change.
In a game that lacked quality, the only goal came 20 minutes before the end when former Oxford United forward Kemar Roofe went to tap home a Hadi Sacko’s cross from close range.
Initially the goal was awarded to Roofe, however after the game it was confirmed that Wolves defender Silvio had got the final touch.
Wolves, who have now collected just one point from their last 15, struggled in front of goal despite creating several chances.
For Garry Monk’s Leeds, who had lost their previous two away games, the result moved them up to 10th in the league.
“Overall our character shone through today and we got the deserved three points,” said Monk.
