Yankey: ‘I think it’s going to be a real show’

Rachel Yankey expects plenty of goals in today’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Gunner, currently on loan at Notts County, is excited about a match up that sees undefeated Women’s Super League side Chelsea aiming to retain the trophy and an Arsenal side aiming for their 14th FA Cup title.

Yankey won nine with the north London side, as well as six Women’s National Premier League titles and two WSL titles and wants both teams to go gung-ho this afternoon in a bid to lift the trophy in front of 33,000 plus fans inside Wembley.

“I think both teams are an attacking force,” she said. “That’s the biggest threat.

“Defensively I think both teams possibly have weaknesses so I think people going to watch it will see fantastically attacking football with hopefully lots of goals.

“I think there are so many talented players on show that I don’t think there’s one player I would pick as a stand-out.

“I’m not saying that one individual couldn’t go on and win it with a moment of magic but both teams line up with fantastic players.

“All children under the age of 16 can go to Wembley for free for this massive event and go and watch two footballing teams do battle.

“I think it’s going to be a real show.”
