Cuts hitting middle class too

THE TUC revealed yesterday that Tory attacks on public services were hitting the middle classes as well as the poor.

The research found that middle-income families with children faced the biggest “cash-equivalent” losses from service cuts.

TUC general secretary Frances O’Grady said: “After five years of severe public service cuts, the cracks are showing.

“And with long waits to see a GP, large cuts in social care provision and youth services closing, families are feeling it.”

She said more cuts to fund “tax giveaways” to the wealthy would hit families even harder and that public services were essential for decent living standards and economic strength.
