Man faces court over protest at Parliament

A MAN who lived 48 hours under the statue of Winston Churchill on Parliament Square will be taken to court tomorrow in the 16th case brought by prosecutors against democracy protesters.

Last October, Danny “Plinthman” Freeman refused to step down from the plinth for over two days in protest at police brutality during the democracy protests outside the Commons.

He was arrested after descending and charged with failing to comply with police directions, behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, criminal damage and theft of a police hat.

Mr Freeman, who was denied food and water while on the plinth, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
