DAVID CAMERON will walk away from EU negotiations “without anything very different,” former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis told a fringe meeting at TUC Congress yesterday.
Quizzed by the Star, the big-name biker said he was in a “strange position” where he could offer advice to Tories as well as leftwingers due to his own experience of EU talks.
“When you go to these things you think you have a chance to say your case,” he said.
“But you’re faced with … an infinite repetition of the phrase: ‘These are the rules.’
“David Cameron’s going to have a hard time negotiating anything very different. The EU has very little capacity for a rational engagement with the facts.”
