Ukraine’s Parubiy ‘not welcome in London’

ANTI-FASCISTS will demonstrate tomorrow against a visit by the Ukrainian parliament’s far-right deputy speaker Andriy Parubiy.

Mr Parubiy will visit government officials and “think tanks” at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Holland Park.

He is the founder of the Social National Party of Ukraine, a fascist organisation styled on Hitler’s Nazis which only accepted ethnic Ukrainians as members.

Mr Parubiy also founded its paramilitary wing Patriot of Ukraine.

The Social National Party would go on to become far-right nationalist party Svoboda.

As commander of the paramilitary Maidan defence forces, Mr Parubiy is implicated in the sniper attacks that led to the February 2014 coup which overthrew the elected government of president Viktor Yanukovych.

On previous visits to Canada and the US he begged for lethal arms to be sent to Ukraine to be used in the continuing onslaught against the civilians of the eastern Donbass region.

Solidarity with Anti-fascist Resistance in Ukraine is organising the protest outside the centre from 6.30pm.
