Last biker held over killings in Waco due to go free on bail

THE LAST man still awaiting bail following the so-called Waco biker shoot-out back in May is set to be released today.

A Texas jail processed Marcus Pilkington’s $50,000 (£32,000) bond at the weekend, five months after his arrest.

Nine people died and 20 were injured in the May 17 bloodbath, which Waco police claim started as a fight between rival motorcycle clubs.

But questions have been raised over the heavily armed police presence at the Twin Peaks restaurant ahead of the regular meeting of the Texas Confederation of Clubs and Independents.

Survivors say they came under sustained rifle fire from a distance, contradicting police claims.

Police also delayed paramedics’ access to the injured, allegedly raising the death toll.

Most of those present were not involved in the fight.

But 177 people were arrested and charged under organised crime laws, with bail initially set at $1 million (£650,000) each.
