Neat summer trim 'the Marx of a good beard'

BRITISH beard-wearers were told yesterday to follow the example of bushy faced founder of modern socialism Karl Marx and trim before a summer heat wave.

The Beard Liberation Front (BLF) advised its supporters to shave for only the second time as temperatures soared across Britain.

It said there was no shame in shaving — as Marx took a razor to his iconic beard before a trip to Algeria in 1882.

BLF organiser Keith Flett said: “It is unclear why Marx took the decision, as the weather was, it appears, not particularly hot at the time.”

Mr Flett advised fellow beard wearers to “trim follicles judicially” every day to achieve a balance between sun protection and overheating.

The group say that the temporary dispensation to trim the beard will remain in force until the end of July, when it will be reviewed.
