Activists disgusted at Mipim return

HOUSING activists were left “disgusted” yesterday after a north-east London council announced that it would be returning to a reviled international property fair despite local opposition.

According to campaigners, Haringey Council will be attending this year’s Mipim exhibition in Cannes, France, to continue “the sell-off of our council estates and public assets.”

Haringey Defend Council Housing secretary Paul Burnham said: “This council’s response to the housing crisis of supply, security and affordability is to work with private investors and developers.”

The campaign will be marching alongside hundreds of other housing groups across London on March 31 in protest against council housing demolitions and ever higher rents.
