Designer Westwood calls for Green Party vote

MAVERICK fashion designer Vivienne Westwood used the launch of her new collection yesterday to urge Britons to vote for the Green Party.

The multimillionnaire declared that “there is no point in voting for the … vote Green,” before her London Fashion Week catwalk show.

Westwood is reportedly donating £300,000 to the Green Party ahead of this year’s general election and has been a vocal supporter of environmentalist campaigns.

At the launch of her runway show at the Science Museum, Westwood put out a statement entitled: “Vote Green.”

In it she describes the kind of woman who would buy her Red Label clothes.

It states: “At the moment we are controlled by 1 per cent of the world population who are in power.

“They preach consumption and they preach war, and they’re taking us into disaster. We are in incredible danger.

“There is no point in voting for the others. She is going to vote Green.”
