Rail chaos victims ‘need payouts’
Transport: Compensation is needed for passengers caught up in severe delays at London Bridge train station, Rail Minister Claire Perry said yesterday.
She told MPs that talks were ongoing with management to ensure rebuilding work did not compromise safety.
Thousands of travellers were left stranded on Tuesday when services stopped during rush hour.

Poorest healthy for 20 fewer years
Health: Children in the poorest areas of England can expect nearly 20 fewer years of good health than those in the richest, official figures showed yesterday.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said those in the most deprived areas could expect to live 52 years in good health, compared with 71 years in the least deprived areas.
Star crosswords get US approval
Games: The Morning Star’s cryptic crossword has been given a five star thumbs up from a fan in the US.
