Connolly Association: Gig marks 99 years since republicans’ Easter Rising

THE Connolly Association will stage a major event in London today as it begins preparations for next year’s centenary of the Easter Rising.

The association, which supports the aims of Irish republicanism, has joined forces with promoter London Celtic Punks to host a night at the legendary Water Rats venue at King’s Cross.

Speakers include RMT general secretary Mick Cash.

Connolly Association general secretary Michael Carty said the gig would “kick-start a year of preparation as we build on the legacy of those who stood and fought for an independent and united Ireland.”

Doors are at 7.30pm and the line-up features London Irish regular Anto Morra, punk/roots trooper Comrade X, the finest in young Celtic Punk from Dorset’s Black Water County and London’s leading Psycho Ceilidh band Neck to top off the night.
