US: Clinton announces presidential bid

HILLARY CLINTON got her election priorities in order on Sunday night when her office told campaign donors first that she had decided to run for US president.

An adviser to the former first lady and secretary of state made her 2016 plans official with an email to contacts from her first presidential campaign.

Minutes later, Ms Clinton announced the details on her campaign website.

She said in a video that “everyday Americans need a champion. I want to be that champion.”

“Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times,” she claimed, “but the deck is still stacked in favour of those at the top.

“When families are strong, America is strong.

“So I’m hitting the road to earn your vote, because it’s your time and I hope you’ll join me on this journey.”

Ms Clinton is aiming to be the first female president.
