Voters won’t trust debate dodging Cameron

VOTERS won’t trust David Cameron after he dodged the latest TV leaders’ debate, heckling mum Victoria Prosser has told the Star.

Ms Prosser was thrown out of the audience at the first debate two weeks ago when she took on the Tory PM over rising homelessness.

And yesterday she slammed Mr Cameron for his no-show on Thursday, saying: “I think it sends a clear message to voters — don’t put your trust in the Tories.

“They can’t even spare an evening to debate in front of the public, who are paying their wages.

“I think that should hopefully swing people away from voting for them.”

Ms Prosser spoke out as Labour leader Ed Miliband issued a fresh challenge to Mr Cameron for a head-to-head showdown.

Mr Miliband said his Tory rival was trying to “duck, weave and dive” his way back into Downing Street.

“If he had guts he’d come out and accept the challenge to debate me one-on-one, head-to-head,” he said during a campaign visit to Lincoln.

Turning the tables on personal Tory attacks on his leadership, Mr Miliband added: “I’m offering him a one-to-one debate about the future of the country.

“I have been saying week after week: anytime, anywhere, any place.”

A BBC spokesman confirmed that if the “two parties were to agree to a debate, any broadcaster would want to cover it.”

And the offer was put to Mr Cameron by the press at the launch of the Tories’ jobs manifesto in the West Midlands.

The PM insisted he wasn’t “invited” by broadcasters to take part in the latest debate, which was billed a challengers debate.

But he again chickened out of facing Mr Miliband, saying that “people have seen a lot of those to get the measure of us.”
