NHS sneaks brought out into the open

HARTLEPOOL health campaigners staged a protest on Tuesday at a walk-in health centre against sneaky private firms using the NHS logo.

Hartlepool One Life Centre provides 8am to 8pm general practitioner services to anyone who arrives, with or without an appointment.

The centre has been taken over by Virgin Care but is using the NHS logo.

The protesters unfurled a banner, reading: “Do Virgin Care? No logo — Why the cover up?”

The campaigners claim health service privateers are deceiving the public.

The demonstration was organised by the People’s NHS campaign.

Campaigner Robert Price said: “Patients are being kept in the dark by their own government about who, precisely, is treating them. Private companies like Virgin are using the NHS logo even though they are not the NHS.”
