Mucky muddle for proud parents

Shocker: Edinburgh Playhouse apologised yesterday after pornographic DVDs were accidentally sent to children and their parents.

Families were expecting to receive recordings of summer school performances from the theatre but DVDs with “highly inappropriate” sexual content were sent instead.

Bosses said the “horrifying” error was made in the duplication process of the DVDs through a third party.

Watchdog chief loses his bonus

Stripped: Head of the Financial Conduct Authority Martin Wheatley was stripped of his bonus of up to £115,000 yesterday after a report criticised the City watchdog’s bungled handling of the announcement of an insurance industry probe.

A £3.8 million report from Simon Davis, of law firm Clifford Chance, said the FCA’s strategy had been “high-risk, poorly supervised and inadequately controlled.”

Mr Wheatley and three other executives have missed out on their payout.

Call for news of foreign sub

Scotland: Ministers were pressed yesterday to reveal more about the hunt for a foreign submarine off the west coast of Scotland.

Angus Robertson, SNP group leader in Westminster, made the call in the Commons, amid reports that Nato spy planes have been called in to help find the vessel.
