Yemen hit by massive joint air attack

YEMEN was hit by a massive joint air attack on Wednesday by the United States, Britain and Israel, according to local media.

One of the strikes targeted al-Sabeen Square in the capital Sanaa as a weekly protest was taking place in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.

Others hit civilian targets as well as the ports of Hodeidah, a power station and the presidential palace in Sanaa, official sources reported.

Civilian deaths and dozens of injuries have been reported by local media, although no figures were provided.

The attack was sparked by recent attacks by the Houthi-led Yemeni forces, who, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, have been carrying out operations against ships they consider linked to Israel on the coasts of the Red Sea since 2023.

The actions of the Yemeni forces have continued to cause massive disruption in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden despite continued air attacks by the US, British and Israelis.

Last week, Israeli war planes bombed a power station and two ports in Houthi-controlled Yemen in retaliation for Houthi drone and missile strikes against Israel, and pro-Houthi media said at least one person had been killed and nine wounded.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Yemenis were “paying and will continue to pay a heavy price for their aggression against us.”
