MEN’S CYCLING: Australian Ben O’Connor still leads La Vuelta by just over a minute from three-time champion Primoz Roglic as the peloton heads into tomorrow’s mountainous stage 16 from Luanco to the Asturian summit of Lagos de Covadonga.

Enrico Mas is third, a further minute and 20 seconds behind with Adam Yates the highest placed Briton in 11th, five minutes and 34 seconds behind O’Connor.

WOMEN’S SPEEDWAY: Celina Liebman was unbeaten in five races as she stormed to victory in the British Open Speedway championship at Leicester’s Beaumont Park Stadium.

Ten months ago, the German speedster had become the first woman to join a British speedway team when she raced for Championship team the Workington Comets until July.

Teagan Pedler finished second, with Katie Gordon completing the podium in third.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Katie Wilkinson bagged yet another hat-trick, making it 14 goals in five games, as Rangers romped to a 10-0 win at bottom club Dundee United and moved two points clear in the Scottish Women’s Premier League after second-placed Hibs had drawn 0-0 with reigning champions Celtic.

Glasgow City won 2-0 at Spartans, Hearts thumped Motherwell 6-1, Patrick drew 2-2 with Aberdeen and Queen’s Park lost 3-0 to Montrose.

MEN’S CRICKET: Sixteen-year-old Farhan Ahmed smashed WG Grace’s record set 159 years ago when he became the youngest player to claim 10 wickets in a County Championship fixture on Sunday.

His match figures of 10-217 came against champions-elect Surrey and helped Nottinghamshire gain a valuable draw in their battle against relegation.

In early August, Farhan had taken 3-87 for the England Lions’ in their win against Sri Lanka.
