PALESTINE supporters have called on the new leader of the Welsh government to take action in support of the people of Gaza and the West Bank.
In an open letter, Palestine Solidarity Campaign Wales secretary Betty Hunter urged the new First Minister Eluned Morgan to ensure council pension funds are not invested in companies supplying Israel to arms.
The letter also urged the Welsh government to follow the example of the Scottish government, which has donated £750,000 to support agencies working in Palestine.
Ms Hunter wrote: “We appreciate that there are many conflicting priorities within the Welsh government, but the atrocities in Palestine, day in day out, cannot and should not be ignored by us here in Wales.
“We have a moral duty to humanity to act decisively and assuredly for peace and for justice for the Palestinian people.”
The Welsh government was invited to comment.
