STAFF working for Disclosure and Barring Service in Liverpool will walk out from Monday.
Public and Commercial Services (PCS) members on the complaints and complex enquiries team have voted to strike for two days over the imposition of a new customer contact model which the union says will increase workloads on “already stretched” staff.
The new telephone system for taking complaints was meant to go live in November, but has been riddled with technical issues.
Workers have now been told it won’t be introduced until next year.
Members of the customer services team will also join in on the strike, which will include a work to rule and overtime ban until Christmas Eve.
PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said: “Our DBS members perform important roles for the public when applying for DBS checks.
“Management needs to listen to their concerns when looking to introduce new systems and processes, act on their concerns and adapt processes based on their feedback.
“If they do that, it will go a long way to resolve this dispute.”
A DBS spokesperson said: “Measures are in place to ensure that DBS continues to provide a quality service to all customers.
"Quality and continuous improvement remain at the core of what DBS does, in our products, in the services we provide, and in the decisions that we make – including the development of our enhanced customer service model."
