Labour Party Labour appoints Rape Crisis to support members affected by sexual harassment

LABOUR has appointed charity Rape Crisis to support any members affected by sexual harassment, the party announced today.

The independent specialist organisation offers a range of support, advocacy, counselling and information around sexual harassment and sexual assault.

As well as offering confidential advice and support, it will also undertake an independent audit of the party's internal procedures from the point of view of someone making a complaint to ensure the procedures are suitable and effective.

A Labour spokesperson said the party “takes all complaints of sexual harassment extremely seriously.

“We understand that for those who have experienced sexual harassment, coming forward is a big step that is often extremely difficult, which is why we have appointed Rape Crisis to provide independent advice and support to anyone affected by sexual harassment.”

Rape Crisis south London CEO Yvonne Traynor said: “We feel that it is important that, we, as an independent organisation, provide a confidential, unbiased and empathic response to survivors to ensure they receive the help that they deserve.”
