Corbynomics named one of 2015’s buzzwords

THE Collins English Dictionary has named Corbynomics one of the buzzwords of 2015.

Coined as shorthand for Labour’s fiscal policies under new leader Jeremy Corbyn, the term was one of 10 words on the annual list, released yesterday.

Its inclusion puts Mr Corbyn on a par with another left-wing Labour stalwart, Nye Bevan, whose name entered the national lexicon with the term Bevanite’s inclusion in the Oxford English dictionary.

While the link with the founder of the NHS would probably be welcome to Mr Corbyn, others would no doubt be less so.

Other terms which made the 2015 list for Word of the Year, were binge-watch, dadbod, manspreading and shaming — defined as the practice of “attempting to embarrass a person or group by drawing attention to their perceived offence, especially on social media.”
