Dozens of Just Stop Oil supporters arrested during slow march

THIRTY-FIVE Just Stop Oil protesters were arrested after refusing to co-operate with police today.

The environmental activists were detained after holding up traffic during a “slow-march” on a major road in west London.

It comes only days after 62 people were arrested during a Just Stop Oil protest in Parliament Square.

The Met said protesters were asked to leave the road this morning and those that refused were arrested.

The activists were seen using the tactic of “going floppy,” by relaxing their arm and leg muscles to make it harder for police to remove them.

Among the activists Rachel White, 53, a mental health worker from Rochford, said: “I have tried standing as a candidate for the Green Party, I have tried signing petitions, writing to MPs, attending Cop26, but nothing’s changed. In fact it’s gotten worse, and so I can no longer be a bystander.”

The Met said in a statement that officers take into account “a person’s right to protest” before making an arrest.
