CWU pays tribute to Southport victims' family

EVERYTHING possible is being done to support the father of Southport mass stabbing victim Elsie Dot Stancombe, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) said today.

The union said that David Stancombe, a postal worker and CWU member based at Southport delivery office, had lost his seven-year-old daughter in the “evil and appalling” attack in July 29.

General secretary Dave Ward and deputy general secretary Martin Walsh said in a statement: “At this moment, we send all of our love and thoughts to David, his family and everyone impacted by this horrific act.

“To witness David and his family calling for calm and peace even in the midst of their own grief is inspiring, emotional and an example to all.

“We know the whole union and wider movement will want to pay respects and we will work with the family, our region and division to ensure this happens at the appropriate time.”
