ScotRail train drivers' union to consult members over improved pay offer

TRAIN drivers’ union Aslef is to consult its members after receiving an improved pay offer from ScotRail.

The publicly owned operator has proposed a 4.2 per cent increase and a package of improved conditions, which the union will put to members.

Drivers previously rejected an offer of a 2.2 per cent.

The new proposal adds a further 2 per cent increase in basic pay to the previous offer, which included a 2.2 per cent rise in basic pay and an uplift of £500 to the driver instructor allowance, plus a 10 per cent increase in drivers’ Sunday working allowance.

Aslef Scottish organiser Kevin Lindsay said: “Aslef entered these talks in good faith. We have negotiated a pay offer of 4.2 per cent, a three-year no compulsory redundancy deal and a number of other improvements.

“These will now be put to our members for their consideration.”

ScotRail service delivery director David Simpson said: “We’re pleased that Aslef will now put the offer to its members.

“Our substantially improved pay offer reflects the cost-of-living challenges faced by families across the country, while balancing it against the need to provide value for the taxpayer.”
