CAMPAIGNERS in Scotland will gather in Edinburgh tomorrow to protest against the Turkish state’s killings of Kurdish citizens and its invasion of Iraqi Kurdistan.
Activists will demonstrate outside the Scottish National Gallery this morning to highlight attacks by the Turkish government on Kurdish communities, which have included the killing of civilians and the alleged use of chemical weapons.
Concerns have been raised by Scottish Solidarity with Kurdistan and Scotland’s Kurdish community about the muted international response to the attacks, including in Scotland.
Shoresh Kurdi of the Kurdish Community Youth Committee said: “The Kurdish people and their friends are appealing to the international community to speak out against Turkey’s military action, which the Kurdistan Communities Union insists is part of an imperialist war backed by Nato, the United States and the European Union.
“The fate of the Kurdish people is once again in greed-filled hands. We therefore call upon every person believing in peace and equality to join our protest.”
