CAMPAIGNERS will hold a national demonstration against the increasing militarisation of space on Saturday during “Keep Space for Peace” week.
The national march, called by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), will take place outside RAF Croughton, which is run by the United States Air Force (USAF), in Northamptonshire.
The US communication and intelligence base — one of the largest international military intelligence hubs — supports many US military sites in Europe, and is involved in worldwide war operations, CND says.
This includes space communications, data links, military drone information, bomber guidance, missile defence, diplomatic communications, and command and control war fighting functions.
The increasing militarisation of space is facilitated through several sites across Britain, including communication networks at RAF Croughton, the US spy base at Menwith Hill, and the US space warfare radar base in Pembrokeshire.
The march will begin at noon on Saturday October 12 at the main gate of RAF Croughton.
