Care strikers ‘out for a win’

GLASGOW care workers striking for pay equality with colleagues on other front-line jobs warned the city council yesterday: “We’re out until we win this.”

The caseworkers with the council’s homeless service told the Star that since their last pay evaluation in 2007 the workforce had been cut by 20 per cent.

Striker Stuart Graham said that, despite a complex and stressful role helping the homeless find secure accommodation, the caseworkers were paid up to £5,000 less than other council staff working in care.
