Health service workers in Wales announced yesterday that they will strike over pay.
Public service union Unison said a half-day stoppage will take place from 8.30am to 12 noon on Monday November 10.
The stoppage will be followed by four days of action short of strike action between Tuesday November 11 and Friday November 14 when members will work to rule by taking their breaks and sticking to their contracted hours.
The health workers voted by 77 per cent for strike action and 90 per cent for action short of a strike in a ballot which closed on October 20.
Unison Cymru head of health Dawn Bowden said: "NHS members don't take action often or lightly. For many of our members this will be the first time they walk out as the last action over pay was 32 years ago.
"The NHS runs on the goodwill of its workers, but that goodwill is beginning to run low."
