NAVY chiefs are refusing to publish the findings of an internal inquiry into the killing of an Afghan fighter by a royal marine.
Sergeant Alexander Blackman is serving an eight-year sentence for murder after shooting a wounded Afghan fighter in the chest at close range in Helmand province in 2011.
Vice-Admiral Sir Philip Jones reportedly emailed other military chiefs in July saying the inquiry report will remain a “controlled document,” and that the findings “may make uncomfortable reading for some.”
A redacted version of a summary of the report is expected to be published this month despite calls for its full release.
