YORKSHIRE remain unbeaten in their County Championship defence after defeating Nottinghamshire by an innings and 8 runs at Headingley yesterday.
Resuming on 302-3 overnight Yorkshire fell to 430 all-out, as England international Stuart Broad took 7-84, giving the White Rose a 206-run first innings lead.
Nottinghamshire were all out for 198 from just 42.3 overs in their second innings, with five of the top seven failing to make double figures as Ryan Sidebottom claimed 4-39.
In their first innings Nottinghamshire recovered from 109-6 to 224 all out through contributions from Broad (34), Luke Wood (38) and Ben Hilfenhaus (28*) while Jack Brooks took 4-56.
Yorkshire were struggling at 51-3 but a 255 run partnership for the fourth wicket between Andrew Gale (148) and Jack Leaning (110) changed the game.
Broad finished the innings by taking wickets with successive balls, though Tim Bresnan had scored 52 to give Yorkshire the final batting bonus point.
Nottinghamshire fared no better in their second innings, with only Michael Lumb and Broad showing notable defiance, hitting 47 and 50 respectively.
