City draw Brondby in Champions League

Manchester City were drawn against Brondby in the last 16 of the Women’s Champions League yesterday, while defending champions Lyon face Swiss champions FC Zurich.

Nick Cushing’s Super League champions, who eased past Russia’s Zvezda 2005 with a 6-0 aggregate last-32 victory last week, take on the seeded three-times semi-finalists from Denmark at home on November 9 or 10 and away for the second leg on either November 16 or 17.

French champions Lyon have appeared in five of the last seven finals for the top European prize — winning three of those — and take on Zurich, who made easy progress with a 9-0 aggregate win over Austria’s Sturm last time out.

Paris St Germain will face unseeded BIIK-Kazygurt of Kazakhstan, Spanish giants Barcelona are set to play Dutch side FC Twente and German champions Bayern Munich take on Rossiyanka of Russia.

Two-time champions and last season’s runners-up Wolfsburg were drawn against Sweden’s Eskilstuna United.
