NUJ: Say No to carnival fee

JOURNALISTS are being urged to reject an “unacceptable” £100 media accreditation scheme to cover this year’s Notting Hill Carnival.

National Union of Journalists freelance organiser John Toner said: “It is not acceptable that the media are expected to pay a fee to cover what is a genuine news event.”

The London Notting Hill Carnival Executive Trust claimed its accreditation process was required to ensure the event’s financial sustainability.
