Prosecutors have dropped charges against a peace campaigner who mounted a protest outside a United States military base in Britain.
But she complained that she had been denied her day in court — and the opportunity to question the base’s “illegal” activities.
Lindis Percy, from Harrogate in Yorkshire, is Joint Co-ordinator of the Campaign for Accountability of American Bases (CAAB).
She has been arrested hundreds of times for her protests at United States bases in Britain, particularly Menwith Hill in North Yorkshire, a key electronic surveillance centre which gathers military, political and economic intelligence from satellites circling the Earth.
In April and May last year Ms Percy staged protests outside a United States base at Croughton, near Northampton.
She was arrested and charged with aggravated trespass, obstruction of the highway and obstruction of a person.
