TUC: Union helps rock solid trade unionists stay safe

CONDOMS branded with a union slogan were given away as seaside souvenirs to delegates at the TUC Congress in Brighton yesterday.

Around 5,000 French letters were distributed at an exhibition stand — an average of 10 per delegate.

The silver packets were printed with the logo of transport union RMT — and the fitting slogan: “Be safe, be in a union.”

A spokesman for the union said: “The RMT can protect people in all facets of their lives, from the workplace to the bedroom.”

It’s not the first time that RMT has given out quirky gifts to delegates and would-be supporters.

During a People’s Assembly protest last year, its campaigners gave out bubblegum sweets called Camel Balls, which are sold in bizarre boxes showing a cartoon of a camel with large testicles.
