Wilson Kipsang smashes marathon world record

Kenyan beats previous time by 15 seconds

Kenyan Wilson Kipsang broke the marathon world record by a staggering 15 seconds as he claimed the Berlin title on Sunday.

Kipsang finished in a time of two hours three minutes and 23 seconds to break the previous record set by compatriot Patrick Makau in Berlin in 2011.

The 31-year-old delivered in style, coming home well ahead of fellow Kenyans Eliud Kipchoge (2:04.05) and Geoffrey Kipsang (2:06.26).
