Double-Olympian Whelan retires to become coach

Great Britain’s double-Olympian Hannah Whelan announced her retirement from gymnastics yesterday.

Whelan competed at both the Beijing and London Olympic Games and she won a team gold medal and a bronze in the all-round event at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 22-year-old, who has also been crowned British all-round champion twice in 2010 and 2011, will now turn her attention to becoming a high-performance coach.
