Van Praag wants four years at Fifa

Football: Dutch FA chief Michael van Praag said yesterday that he wants to serve a single four-year term as Fifa president to restore its credibility before handing the leadership to a new generation.

Van Praag began outlining his vision on Wednesday for the future of the world governing body, and his bid to become its president in the May 29 vote.

Cueto calls it quits after 14 years

Rugby Union: Former England and British and Irish Lions winger Mark Cueto announced yesterday that he would call time on his 14-year playing career at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old Sale player is the Premiership’s most prolific try-scorer.

“In my head, I could carry on playing forever,” he said, “but the body is not doing what the mind tells it to. This year was always a bit of a bonus year, and the time is now right to call it a day.”

Wada: Don’t use doping coaches

Doping: Athletes who become involved with coaches who have a previous doping record will be punished by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada), president Craig Reedie said yesterday.

Changes to the World Anti-Doping Code including a “prohibited association” clause came into force on January 1, and Reedie noted that athletes rarely act alone when using banned substances.

“This will be difficult to enforce, but Wada believes that should certainly help,” he said.
