Boris Johnson vows to face water cannon drenching

LONDON Mayor Boris Johnson agreed yesterday to be blasted with the water cannon he controversially wants to see rolled out at London protests.

When LBC Radio challenged Mr Johnson over safety fears, the dopey mayor initially insisted he hadn’t “done anything to deserve” being hit by the cannon.

But he agreed to turn guinea pig under pressure from host Nick Ferrari in a desperate bid to maintain his reputation for macho political bravado.

He said: “OK. Man or mouse. Alright, you’ve challenged me to this. I suppose I’m going to have to do it now.”

Home Secretary Theresa May told MPs that Mr Johnson’s plans to splash £130,000 on three second-hand German water cannon would be submitted to “proper” health and safety tests.

PM David Cameron said through a spokesman that he believed police should have the resources they wanted.

The Met has for the cannon since 2011’s summer riots.
