DLR staff strike against ‘cavalier’ bosses

DOCKLANDS Light Railway staff walked off the job before dawn today, slamming bosses’ “cavalier attitude” to safety.

Workers of all grades on Keolis Amey Docklands Light Railway say management have failed to address concerns over use of agency staff, the casualisation of key functions and a “creeping culture of bullying and intimidation.”

RMT members voted by 92 per cent to act and are now striking for 48 hours.

General secretary Mick Cash said RMT negotiators had made every effort to resolve the dispute but “through the sheer intransigence of the management the DLR will face its first ever all-out strike action in the 28-year history of the railway.

“Keolis Amey are trying to bulldoze through some of the worst working practices and conditions we associate with the most cheapskate and anti-union companies in the transport sector.”
