Farage critic O’Flynn bites dust

UKIP’S civil war raged on yesterday after MEP Patrick O’Flynn resigned as the party’s economic spokesman, writes Alana MacAskill.

Mr O’Flynn had earlier described leader Nigel Farage as a “snarling, thin-skinned and aggressive” man in an interview as he called for Mr Farage’s resignation.

Ukip is in a state of crisis since its failure to win more seats in the general election a fortnight ago.

The MEP made his comment after Ukip party executives allegedly rejected Mr Farage’s resignation.

He has now offered an apology, stating that he regrets speaking to the media, but he stands by his observation of the party being a “personality cult.”

And he has not labelled his prior comments untrue or unjustified.
