South London college staff responded quickly after bosses blocked their strike plans yesterday.
University and College Union (UCU) members at Lambeth College had to limit the originally planned all-out strike to one day as the school’s management was granted an injunction.
Workers on the picket line branded the legal proceedings as just a “delaying tactic with the aim of damaging morale”.
But UCU immediately responded to management’s bullying tactics by balloting its members for a second round of industrial action once the injunction is lifted.
College staff are protesting against contract changes which would increase working hours, cut annual leave and force the workers to take additional work for no further remuneration.
A rally was held in the late afternoon at the Karibu Centre in Brixton, followed by a local May Day march in support of workers rights.
